    MYTHS REALITY
    Total Eyeball is transplanted. Only cornea is transplanted not whole eye ball.
    Eyes can be donated while the Donor is alive. Pledging is done during one’s lifetime.Donor Corneas removed only after death.
    Cornea can be removed even long after death. Cornea should be retrieved within 6-8 hours of death.
    Corneas are bought and sold. Corneas are neither sold nor bought.
    The Donor’s face is disfigured. The Donor’s face is not disfigured.
    Long time is taken for retrieval of Cornea from Dead Body. Only 15-20 minutes is needed for retrieval.
    All types of blindness can be cured and vision restored. Only corneal blindness can be restored.
    All Corneas retrieved are utilized for transplantation. Only healthy corneas are suitable for transplantation. Others are used for training & research.
    No need to screen the donor for diseases. The Donor’s blood is tested for Hepatitis /AIDS / V D etc.
    Corneas can be retrieved ONLY at Hospital. Corneas can be retrieved at Home,in ambulance or any place.
