Vision restoration through Eye Donation was conceived long ago. Research has helped in the evaluation and usage of Donor Cornea to Restore Eye sight. The first Eye Bank was established in 1944 (New York, USA). The Eye Bank Association of India was formed in 1989 with the objective of promoting and creating awareness about Eye Donation. In India Eye Banks centres are playing a significant and pivotal role in eradication of Corneal Blindness. The centers trainee technicians to retrivet and screen corneas from Donors and make available to corneal surgeons for cornea grafting.
MOHSIN EYE BANK
Eye Bank (Managed by VEBART Trust) came into existence in 2001, thanks to the generous contribution of Rs. 5, 00,000/- towards initial corpus fund by our Founder Trustee and Philanthropists late Sri Kasim S. Mehdi, of Mohsin Brothers Foundation.
Mohsin Eye Bank has won many an accolades and recognition since inception (23 years). This Is due to the Trustees Dedication, Commitment and selfless service to the cause and also ensuring every rupee received by way of donation is judiciously spent. It is a matter of pride that Mohsin Eye Bank has become synonymous with Eye Banking in this region.
It is for this reason in year 2016, L V Prasad Eye Institute Hyderabad, collabrated with Mohsin Eye Bank for their campus at Visakhapatnam .
